Choosing what is right.

One of my favourite things is to read the bible in one year in the morning. It starts off my day much in the way my vitamins help me to stay healthy. As I have been exploring through Genesis, which means "Origin or Beginning", I have noticed a pattern of two in a lot of scenarios, and one that stood out to me is found in the story of Abram and Lot (yes he becomes Abraham a bit later).
Through Genesis chapter 13 to 19 the pattern of twos shows the most, two valleys where Abram and Lot part company, two armies, one of which captures Lot, two valleys again one full of tar and the other for kings and the two central characters of Abram and Lot. It is rather telling that the two theme is a source of comparison between doing good and taking a road that spells trouble.
Abram is fully leaning into God throughout the narrative, while Lot chooses a worldly perspective, thinking he has the best. Choosing what is right often means taking a moment, thinking it over, praying to God and see where He guides. It is a relationship where we do our part and let God do His. For Lot, the end of the story is heartbreaking. A loss of wife, belongings and to flee for his life with his daughters.
Although Abram's journey up until this point has been tough, God rewards him for his faithfulness and obedience by eventually giving him a son, forming a covenant with Abram and keeping his family safe. As I was thinking of their story, I understood, that not all we see is good for us and that ultimately being patient that God always keeps His word offers us comfort.
