The old saying "Expect the unexpected" has been true of many of us, and it is interesting to see how we look at these unexpected events. Are we embracing when they come, with joy and gladness? Or are we in a perpetual state of dread? If it is the latter, that's ok! And there is a lot of media out there dealing with this issue. But what if you do grab the unexpected and are happy, what then? Doesn't seem so popular does it? Proverbs and Ecclesiastes have a lot to say about these topics. And here are afew ways they tackle it. 1)We cannot do much about the situation, not all things are easy to fix, 2) God desires us to be content in Him, not in things or events that disappear, 3)The unexpected may be an opportunity in some shape or form, so God might be trying to get our attention. 4)It may be we have to surrender something to move forward, and 5) Every thing is seasonal and does not last forever. Right now I am working steadily for the first time in a while and though it is taxing, I am staying still and listening to God. As a result, I am learning a lot! I am learning things about me I can change, how to better interact with other people and to be more generous. So the next time an unexpected comes your way, maybe ask this question "What can I learn from this situation today?" You will be surprised at what God says!
